We’re now a week away from the smartphone and tablet focused mobile world congress (MWC) and devices continue to be leaked. The latest of which is a new tablet from Sony.
Sony is quitting the PC business to concentrate on mobile and its latest devices will be unveiled next week in Barcelona. Notorious tech leaker, evleaks, has posted specifications for the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet.
Last year’s Xperia Tablet Z was an impressive device, earning our Recommended Award, and it looks like a successor isn’t far off. It looks like the Android tablet will receive upgrades in both the design and specification departments.
The Xperia Z2 tablet (we’re not sure about the slight name change) will get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and 3GB of RAM. 16GB of internal storage will be accompanied by a microSD card slot.
It will still have a 10.1in Triluminos screen with a 1920×1200 resolution and a waterproof design. The original was thin at 6.9mm but the new model will be even trimmer at 6.4mm. Rounding out the specifications are an 8Mp rear camera, 2Mp front facing webcam, a 6000mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat.
Although MWC isn’t mentioned, it’s more than likely that the tech show will be when Sony announces the device along with other new tech. The firm is also expected to announce a new flagship smartphone in the form of an Xperia Z2.
