Tesla’s self-driving pilot feature launches in UAE

Tesla has announced that its popular Autopilot feature is now available in the UAE.

The feature is built into the hardware of all Tesla cars – including the Model S, Model X and the upcoming Model 3 – and gives each vehicle full autonomous capabilities at a safety level that is “substantially greater” than that of a human driver, according to the company.

Autopilot provides a 360-degree visibility at up to 250 metres of range by making use of eight surround cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors, meaning the car can transport itself down Sheikh Zayed Road without any human interaction, and even park itself.

This feature was previously unavailable in the UAE. Now, any Tesla car that is bought will have the feature activated, whilst existing owners can expect to access the feature via the next software update.

The company is also offering test-drives from its Dubai showroom, which can be requested here.
