Dulsco anticipates higher demand for IT professionals in Q4 2012

The sudden increase in the number of digital media companies offering social media, internet marketing and cloud computing solutions in the GCC is creating an unprecedented demand for highly specialised IT professionals, according to Dulsco HR Solutions, a regional manpower and recruitment leader.

Dulsco has reported an increase of 11.8% over the corresponding period last year in the demand for skilled IT manpower in the new digital media field and expects that the demand will increase significantly in the fourth quarter, when most residents are back from their summer break. The holding of twin technology events – GITEX and Computer Shopper – in October 2012 is expected to further push up that demand.

The increase in the demand for specialised professionals such as new media professionals, cloud computing analysts, desktop engineers, database administrators, Linux professionals, SAP specialists and other highly specialised technical positions has led Dulsco to point out that the trend would have a tremendous and positive impact on job creation in the region. The findings were based on Dulsco’s research among its large portfolio of technology and media clients operating in the region.

“What we are witnessing here is a rapid shift in the demand for IT manpower,” Prabhu Dharmarajan, senior manager, HR Outsourcing, Dulsco HR Solutions. “One of the reasons for this trend is the ability of UAE companies to reinvent their strategies quickly to keep up with the rest of the world. While previous demands were for web developers, data entry operators and programmers only, companies are now looking to increase their headcount to include more focused professional streams and are willing to spend to recruit the best talent.”

Dharmarajan added that companies in the UAE are already catching up with their counterparts in the rest of the world in implementing  innovative technologies to reach out to not only their employees but also to external businesses and stakeholders.
