26 government entities to showcase latest services at GITEX 2011

H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, director-general of Dubai eGovernment Department

At a press conference held recently, Dubai eGovernment Department announced the details of its participation with 26 government entities in the 31st edition of GITEX Technology Week to be held between October 9 and 13. These entities will showcase over 2000 eServices during the event.

Building on its success in the previous GITEX editions in providing an integrated platform to showcase a wide range of government services, Dubai eGovernment has this year booked 2,300 square metres of exhibition space at the Sheikh Saeed Hall at stand number S2-A21, giving all government entities greater flexibility to present their respective services in such a manner that it enhances government integration.

H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director-General of Dubai eGovernment Department, said, “The main focus of the department during its participation in GITEX Technology Week 2011 will centre on the provision of eServices from the customer’s viewpoint.” He affirmed that Dubai eGovernment is fully committed to fulfil this vision of easing government transactions in line with the needs of its customers, while adopting the world’s highest standards in the delivery of government services through various channels such as the internet, mobile phone, SMS messaging and the unified call centre.

He added, “Our platform has repeatedly played a pivotal role in enhancing the eServices adoption rates by streamlining the channels of communication between customers and government entities for supporting the digital transformation process in Dubai in implementation of the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Bin Humaidan pointed out that as usual every year Dubai eGovernment’s dedicated teams would explore the needs of visitors at GITEX with the aim of upgrading eServices in the emirate and enhancing efficiency and excellence at local departments.

On the sidelines of the press conference, Bin Humaidan unveiled the Dubai eGovernment’s new unified logo designs for its services provided to the local government departments and entities in Dubai. The move follows the Department’s launch in the past period of its own new logo with the aim of reflecting its role in the current stage of eTransformation.

Commenting on the launch of the new logos, Bin Humaidan said, “Dubai eGovernment has taken upon itself to provide eServices and infrastructure in a move aimed at making it easy for these entities to provide their services electronically to the public. This work is important due to the fact that the design of all the logos is derived from the spirit of the eGovernment’s logo as embodied in the letter ‘e’, which represents the changes in the electronic landscape in a dynamic, transparent and resilient manner, reflecting the eGovernment’s ambitions regarding its relations with its partners and customers. The logo features a number of successively growing circles that evolve into a hemisphere that reflects the constantly growing achievements of electronic integration. This hemisphere is still closely tied to a centre to allow continuous cycles of successive accomplishments leading to continuous development, transformation and integration.”

Bin Humaidan called on all Dubai government entities to insert these logos on their websites as soon as possible in confirmation of their harmony under unified standards and policies and as a sign of their efforts to build an integrated knowledge-based society, particularly since the unified design of the logos highlights the concept of a connected government, which is the core of Dubai eGovernment’s vision, and aims at strengthening efforts towards more integration and harmony in the eTransformation process.
