Google Nexus 7 tablet will ship from 19 July

Google’s Nexus 7 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet will start shipping on 19 July.

The firm’s first own brand tablet will be released on 19 July according to online retailers Ebuyer, PC World and Currys. Google announced the tablet, made by Asus, at last week’s Google I/O conference and put it up for pre-order starting at £159.

During our hands-on time with the Nexus 7 representatives for Asus told us that the tablet would start shipping from retailers warehouses from 20 July. However, the dates appearing online beat that by a day.

Asus confirmed that consumers will be able to walk into a physical shop and buy the Nexus 7 from 27 July. The Google Play Store still states orders will ship in ‘2-3 weeks’.

So far Ebuyer, PC World and Currys only have the £199 16GB model listed, not the cheaper £159 8GB model. Although the Google Play Store has no exact shipping date for the tablet there in the incentive of a £15 voucher to spend in the store and free content including Transformers: Dark of the moon.
