Jive develops enterprise social app for intranets

Jive Software has developed a version of its enterprise social collaboration software designed for intranets, the latest product it creates for specific workplace scenarios.

In the case of the Jive Social Intranet Solution, the vendor is targeting companies that want their intranet to have enterprise social networking features, such as activity streams, microblogging, employee profiles, workgroup communities and document sharing and co-editing.

Jive’s product is designed to provide intranets that are dynamic in nature, engage employees, promote collaboration and contain fresh, up-to-date content, the company plans to announce on Wednesday.

It offers IT departments administration and management features to, for example, establish security controls, configure content access policies and meet compliance requirements.

Jive Social Intranet Solution is also integrated with Outlook, Office and SharePoint, so that employees can participate in the intranet from within the interfaces of those Microsoft products. It can also be integrated with other third-party business software and can be accessed from BlackBerry, Apple iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets.

Jive Social Intranet Solution also comes with a new Jive “gamification” module that lets companies create incentives for users to participate in certain activities and tasks.

Jive Gamification, as the module is called, is based on technology from Bunchball and can be used to create workplace “games” to promote, for example, that members from a specific department answer a set of questions or complete training materials.

Jive recently announced the first specialised version of its software. Called Jive Social Customer Service Solution, it is designed to help companies reduce support calls, cut resolution times and drive up customer satisfaction.

The company plans to launch another such specialised product for sales and marketing departments.

The goal of these specialised products is to reduce the amount of in-house customisation needed to adapt the Jive software for specific tasks or departments.

The specialised products will be interoperable, so companies that acquire several of them will be able to collaborate and share data across departments.
