“GITEX is a great platform in terms of getting good visibility and networking opportunities with existing and potential customers,” said Gregg Petersen, regional director, Middle East and Africa, Veeam. “Our regional business is 100 percent channel-driven, so it’s very important for us to boost things on that front as well.”

The new platform provides improved control for a data centre of any size, according to Petersen. “This provides an organisation with a single console to manage data centre infrastructure,” he said. “This can cater for anything, from virtual or physical servers to endpoints, as well as enabling migration between a whole host of cloud platforms. This is a single dashboard for backups and replication.”

Petersen went on to highlight how Veeam’s solutions were a good fit for a region that has faced the effects of the plummeting oil price. “The Middle East has done well in the face of tough macroeconomic conditions,” he said. “Cloud adoption has been relatively slow in the Middle East but is starting to pick up. Also on the rise are solutions such as Backup-as-a-Service and Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service.

“Veeam has been successful across a range of verticals in this region; we don’t have a specific target industry. Every company is becoming virtualised and will move to cloud.”
