ABBYY to showcase at Mobile World Congress 2010

The ABBYY Stand is dedicated to document recognition and language translation technologies, as well as possible ways of putting them into practice by creating various end user applications for mobile devices.

At the event, ABBYY will unveil a new version of its Mobile OCR Engine, a software development kit (SDK) for creating small-footprint optical character recognition (OCR) and business card recognition (BCR) solutions. Among the key new features of the ABBYY SDK is support for Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages for both OCR and BCR.

ABBYY, beyo and Diotek will also demonstrate their latest smartphone applications based on ABBYY’s recognition and linguistic technologies.

Beyo will present the following applications and technologies:

·         beyoCBS Reader — Portable reading software that captures any text with a camera phone and reads it aloud in real time.
·         beyoCBS Translator — New software for mobile phones that translates and reads aloud any text, regardless of whether it is in a book, newspaper or letter.
·         beyoCBS Auto Shoot mechanism — The ingenious automatic activator that makes capturing text with a phone’s camera amazingly easy. Any selected text appears in the display by simply aiming the camera at the page.

Diotek on the other hand will demonstrate the OCR technology-based software for mobile devices, MobiReader, which provides business card recognition, document recognition functions and OCR-based dictionary.

ABBYY, a provider of document recognition, data capture, and language software, in conjunction with beyo and Diotek, will be exhibiting at the 2010 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
