Injazat Data Systems exhibits its data center energy efficiency

Region’s leading Information Technology and Business Process Managed Services provider — Injazat Data Systems, presents energy efficiency strategies for data centers in a special conference that was held parallel to GITEX Technology Week 2008 running from October 19 to October 23, 2008, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

An industry pioneer in data center development and maintenance and the owner of the Gulf’s first and only Tier IV fault-tolerant data center, Injazat shared its successful experiences in energy management and environmental sustainability during the ‘Design Considerations for Reduced Energy Consumption in the Data Centre’ conference.

Other key data centre issues that were tackled during the half-day conference were Green Data Centers, International Data Center Standards, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Centers

“Today’s data center stakeholders are faced with various challenges ranging from climate control and rocketing energy costs to the attainment of maximum availability. As the Middle East’s premier IT and consumer electronics trade event, GITEX provides an excellent platform for decision makers to learn more about the latest and best practices in data center management. Energy efficiency in particular is a major factor for sustainable operations and currently a hot industry topic, so we provided valuable insights and directions in this regard during the conference while affirming our position as the region’s top data center specialist,” says Kenny Wilson, CIO/CTO, Injazat Data Systems.

Among the topics that Injazat specifically discussed were data center design layout and power consumption, steps for reducing energy consumption, the energy consumption ‘Cascade’ effect, and seven points to consider for efficient cabinet cooling. The company also explored other energy saving opportunities such as the consolidation of data storage for direct-attached storage to network-attached storage and the use of economizers for facility cooling.

Injazat Data Systems was established in 2005 in Abu Dhabi as a joint venture between Mubadala Development Company and Electronic Data Systems, an HP company. Injazat has rapidly risen to become one of the largest IT services companies in the UAE. The company recently constructed the first Tier IV fault-tolerant data centre outside of North America at Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi.

GITEX Technology Week is an annual IT exhibition held in Dubai which gathers international technology companies and experts for a week of networking, exhibitions, seminars and conferences. More than 3,300 companies from 83 countries will showcase their products and services to an expected crowd of 130,000 trade visitors during the 2008 edition.
