Oman Oil Company saves energy

Tripp Lite, a world leading manufacturer of power protection and connectivity equipment, announces the complete the installation of a power protection solution involving 120 KVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units within the Oman Oil Company (OOC), a commercial company fully-owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman. The delivery is aimed at powering a back-up system for 70 per cent of the oil giant’s staff, who are assigned to various projects across the globe. As one of the leading UPS manufacturers worldwide, Tripp Lite is currently focused on the increased need for power protection and risk management awareness in the region, and its agreement with one of Oman’s major oil and gas businesses stands as a testament to its steadily growing regional operations.

As one of the main GCC oil and gas producing countries, Oman has been one of Tripp Lite’s key markets, and a major destination of development through its local partners and Dubai based distributors. The agreement, which was signed between OOC and Mohsen Haidar Darwish LLC (MHD), Tripp Lite’s distributor in Oman, facilitated the delivery of one SU120K3/3INTPM and battery packs. Further, the installation and implementation was undertaken by MHD’s certified engineers to offer 24/7 protection for the organisation equipment, especially in the instances of harmonics, surges and blowouts, in addition to providing a pure sine wave output for an hour whenever there is a blackout.

“Our partnership with Oman Oil Company is a major success for Tripp Lite, and we are proud to be playing a major role in their operations by providing highly reliable power protection equipment, which will ensure continuous power supply to support their regional operations,” says Vipin Sharma, Vice President – EEMEA and India Sales, Tripp Lite. “In addition to the exemplary quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness of our UPS systems, this massive undertaking was also made possible by our close collaboration with Mohsen Haidar Darwish, whose technical expertise and knowledge of the domestic market has been essential to the success of this project.”

Tripp Lite has been present in the Oman market since the early 1990's, when they started building their relationships with the distribution and corporate sectors through local partners. In addition to its project with OOC, Tripp Lite has also forged significant partnerships with several prestigious organisations in Oman, including the Royal Sultanate Police. At present, Tripp Lite products are available in Oman through its local partners and the Tripp Lite Service Centre. Amidst the boom of the oil and gas sectors and the high propensity for growth in the Sultanate’s construction market, the company is also focused on driving awareness on the importance of power protection and risk management across all verticals.

“Oman is a fast growing market and the need for risk management and power protection has become a need for all the sectors, especially for the oil and gas industry. By acquiring and adopting Tripp Lite’s highly reliable UPS systems, we are confident that we will have a more stable supply to support our operations. We are also very impressed with their on line support as well as the presence of local Tripp Lite Service Centres, which give us peace of mind that any power failure in the grid will be dealt with promptly and effectively,” adds S. Deenadayalan, Network and Security Administrator, Oman Oil Company.

Established in 1992 to give the Oman Government a vehicle for pursuing investment opportunities in the energy sector both inside and outside the Sultanate, OOC is involved with large-scale energy and energy related projects across the region. OOC plays a critical role in the Sultanate's efforts to diversify the Omani economy and to generate local and foreign private sector investment. In the future, the company seeks to continue initiating and developing quality investment opportunities that will help the Sultanate realise its long-term economic and social objectives.
