Axis launches dome camera series

Axis M50 camera

Axis Communications announced today the arrival of what it claims is the world’s smallest, ceiling mount dome cameras. AXIS M50 cameras are 13 cm wide and 5.6 cm high and cover an area of up to 400 sqm, enabling high-quality 360° surveillance in HDTV.

Baraa Al Akkad, regional manager of Axis Communications Middle East said, “The cameras bring together the flexibility and benefits of a pan/tilt/zoom camera and Axis’s design and quality hallmarks at affordable prices”

With a built in microphone and IP 51 rating, Axis states that the dome cameras are easy to install on both soft and hard ceilings as well as on walls. According to the company, these cameras are dust-proof and protected from dripping water, enabling video to be taken even when a sprinkler system is activated. The cameras are powered using power over Ethernet.

The M50 camera series is supported by AXIS Camera Station video management software and Axis’ Application Development Partner program and consist of AXIS M5014 and AXIS M5013 models. While the former entails a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, progressive scan, HDTV colour fidelity, full frame rate and a 16:9 format the latter can deliver multiple, individually configurable H.264 and Motion JPEG video streams simultaneously.
