FSC expands partnership with Cisco

Helping to eliminate the cumbersome number of physical connections previously needed to bridge servers to other elements in the datacenter, the Cisco Nexus switches offered with the PRIMERY servers will allow regional business to consolidate server resources through a single high performance cable helping to achieve greater flexibility, scalability, and lower total cost of ownership in their datacenters.

“Adding the new Nexus series to our offering strengthens Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ position as a major infrastructure vendor that is able to deliver products and services capable of meeting all the challenges presented by complex data centers,” explained Chandan Mehta, Product Manager Enterprise Product, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “There are huge gains to be made in virtualizing end-to-end data center infrastructures for Middle Eastern enterprises by implementing a Unified Fabric so that its applications are available from nearly anywhere.”

Nexus 5000 switching technology supports both high-speed 10 Gb Ethernet and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) making sure that companies can easily configure a Unified Fabric ensuring efficient communication between the applications in their datacenters. Switching to a Unified Fabric provides regional customers with two key benefits. Firstly, it delivers high performance support for the increasing demands made on virtualized servers, and secondly, it paves the way for a common network for servers and storage allowing for more flexible data center architectures.

“By implementing a Unified Fabric, data center operators in the Middle East can expect significant savings in administration, power consumption, space, equipment and cabling without nullifying previous investments,” said Mehta. “Thanks to our close partnership with Cisco and the tight integration of our product lines, we are actively enabling our customers to build these architectures which offer the huge amount of scalability needed to remain ahead of the curve in the region’s highly competitive business environment.”

A working demonstration of a Unified Fabric that combined PRIMERGY servers with Cisco Nexus was recently presented by Fujitsu Siemens Computers at VISIT, its European IT forum, which took place this year in Augsburg, Germany. This product offering will be available shortly in the region.
