Government plans workforce management framework worth up to £1bn

mobile-workforce-management-solutionsThe British government has revealed plans to put in place a framework agreement that will provide workforce management solutions to the public sector, which could be worth up to £1 billion.

Although the solutions are only going to be offered to the NHS initially, it is expected that this will expand to include other public sector bodies in the UK.

An online notice states that the framework will cover the supply of fully managed service staff banks “for any staff type”, as well as workforce management software and e-rostering.

The government has valued the framework at anywhere between £200 million and £1 billion. A Cabinet Office spokesperson said that suppliers will be announced later this year.

“The PIN (prior information notice) is for Workforce Management. It is initially aimed at the NHS but its scope may be broadened to encompass other public sector customers. The framework will provide customers with end-to-end resource planning,” he said.

“We are still in the planning stages and engaging with customers and the market for feedback to help shape the procurement and ensure it meets customer needs while delivering the best value for money for the taxpayer. We expect to publish the OJEU in the spring for award in the summer of 2014.

“Further information will be available in due course.”
