Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 has received a top award from the independent test lab AV-Comparatives.
In February 2009, AV-Comparatives, the respected Austrian antivirus test lab, performed yet another series of tests on 17 popular antivirus products that demonstrated sufficiently high results during preliminary testing.
The antivirus products were evaluated on criteria such as detection level and number of false positives. Over 1.3 million malicious programs including Trojans, worms, viruses and malicious scripts collected from a variety of sources over the preceding nine months were used during testing to evaluate detection level. Testing for false positives was conducted using a collection of ‘clean’ files.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 was awarded AV-Comparatives’ highest rating of Advanced+, achieving a malware detection level of over 97% and generating a negligible number of false positives. Furthermore, the Kaspersky Lab product demonstrated high scanning speeds, even with heuristic detection set to high.
Apart from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009, only three other solutions were awarded the Advanced+ award.
“AV-Comparatives” is an Austrian Non-Profit-Organization, which provides independent Anti-Virus software tests free to the public. The lab conducts tests, reviews and reports on several reputable anti-virus softwares. The lab’s tests evaluate the both corporate and personal products in terms of impact on the system’s performance, cleaning abilities, detection of PUA (potentially unwanted applications), in addition to other variables that assess the products’ efficiency.
Commenting on receiving this award, Tarek Kuzbari, Head of Kaspersky Lab Middle East said: “The AV Comparatives awards are highly regarded by security vendors and professionals across the world. It is one of the world’s most valid and trustworthy test labs that follow the best testing standards in the industry, and receiving this award is a testament to our products’ merit and efficiency.”
