Blue Coat appoints new chief marketing officer

Daheb will be responsible for the company’s unified global marketing initiatives, corporate branding and positioning, corporate and marketing communications and regional and field marketing worldwide. He will report directly to Mike Borman, president and CEO.

“I am pleased to announce that Steve Daheb will lead Blue Coat’s marketing efforts to strengthen and expand our presence in the Web security and WAN optimisation markets while further driving Blue Coat’s role as a key enabler in solving networking and security challenges,” says Borman. “Steve brings to Blue Coat proven experience and leadership, along with careful strategic thinking, creative insight and high energy. His strengths and experiences are well-suited to advancing Blue Coat’s future.”

Daheb was most recently the chief marketing officer for Emulex Corporation, where he helped grow the company’s presence in existing markets and facilitated its entry and growth in the new converged networking market. He previously served in a number of executive sales, marketing and business development roles for a variety of networking companies, including BlueArc, Tasman Networks, Brocade and Lucent/Ascend. His experience in video, security and networking gives him valuable market insight.

Blue Coat Systems, a provider of Web security and WAN optimisation, has appointed marketing veteran Steve Daheb as its chief marketing officer (CMO) and senior VP, effective immediately.
