DarkMatter’s Dr. Aaraj delivers keynote at ICMC event in Ottawa

DarkMatter has announced the keynote participation of Dr. Najwa Aaraj, Senior Vice President, Special Projects, at the recently held International Cryptographic Module Conference 2016.

Dr. Aaraj’s presentation is titled Modern Crypto Systems and Practical Attacks, and addressed modern security protocols and the importance of augmenting today’s systems with the right cryptographic primitives.

In her address Dr. Aaraj discussed practical attacks against cryptographic implementations and required countermeasures that are typically not covered by theoretical cryptography and its corresponding security proofs and models. The talk also focused on potential software and hardware co-design techniques to harden cryptographic implementations and prevent leakage of secret data.

Part of the agenda at the ICMC included the review of technical topics underlying the implementation of a cryptographic module including physical security, key management, side-channel analysis, cryptographic algorithm implementation testing, standardisation, validation programmes and more.

“DarkMatter has gained significant traction in the areas of cryptography, cryptographic implementations, and network protocols, and the Secure Voice and Chat application we introduced earlier this year is evidence of that,” said Dr. Aaraj. “The ICMC has been a great opportunity to interact with industry peers especially in light of one of DarkMatter’s R&D centres being located in Canada.”

DarkMatter is leveraging this experience in the wider market as it looks to serve regional and international clients. The company provides a portfolio of cybersecurity solutions and services to organisations that have sophisticated security requirements, from governments and infrastructure operators to large corporations.
