Multinational law firm, DLA Piper, has fallen victim to the latest major cyberattack ‘Petya,’ which has reportedly knocked out phones and computers across the firm.
DLA said in a statement: “The firm, like many other reported companies, has experienced issues with some of its systems due to suspected malware. We are taking steps to remedy the issue as quickly as possible.”
The shut down appears to have been caused by a ransomware attack, similar to the WannaCry attack that paralysed organisations worldwide last month.
DLA’s phone system was not working for the majority of yesterday, reports suggest, and partners say they have been instructed to turn off their computers as a precaution.
It appears that offices in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and the US have all been affected.
A statement on DLA Piper’s Middle East page said: “We are currently dealing with a serious global cyber incident. We have taken down our systems as a precautionary measure which will mean you are currently unable to contact us by email or landline. Our people continue to be available on their usual mobile/cell phone numbers.
