Crutchfield was previously a general manager of Motorola Solutions’ Services Delivery organisation in A/NZ.

The appointment is effective immediately. Crutchfield replaces Gary Starr, who earlier this year was promoted to vice president to oversee a number of key countries in the Asia Pacific and Middle East region, including Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and India.

Crutchfield joined Motorola Solutions Australia in 2007. In his first role as general manager, Zeon Digital, he oversaw the growth of the two-way digital radio network in greater metropolitan Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane from establishment. In subsequent roles, he led the organisation’s Government and Public Safety Pre-Sales Engineering and Project Delivery teams, and oversaw its Minerals and Energy division through a major phase of growth.

Prior to joining Motorola Solutions, Crutchfield was director of Desktop Solutions for McAfee globally in Portland, Oregon. He also took on a position in Australia McAfee’s sales, business development and strategic alliances as SME director in the Asia Pacific.

Motorola Solutions vice president, Gary Starr, said, “Steve has been a key member of our senior leadership team here in Australia and New Zealand, and I have no doubt we will continue to benefit greatly from his experience and strong customer focus. He has been a great mentor to our team over the past six years, and understands the critical factors necessary in the successful design and delivery of complex communication solutions.”

Motorola Solutions is the mobile solutions business that split from Motorola Mobility in 2011. It has been evolving over the last few years to focus more and more on services. Last year, the company’s Australian subsidiary launched an Innovation Centre, a creative hub outside Melbourne to help its partners get hands-on with mobility solutions, idea generation, and creative brainstorming to make a leap into mobility.
