Subway serves up PXtech business intelligence platform

The Subway sandwich chain has adopted a new business intelligence platform, from UK IT systems supplier PXtech, for its franchisees worldwide.

The PXportal system will be offered to nearly 35,000 Subway stores worldwide, the company said. Those franchisees signing up to the system will have online access to real-time data from their point of sale systems across multiple stores, according to Subway.

Thys Van Hout, CTO at Subway, said, “The implementation of PXtech’s system is the ideal addition to our fast-moving technology programme and provides excellent tools for helping our restaurant owners to manage their business.”

Subway said over 11,000 stores have already signed up for the business intelligence service, with thousands of hits daily on the BI portal site.

In 2009, Subway started the roll-out of a standard electronic point of sale (EPOS) system across its stores, to speed installations and cut costs.
