Oracle changes WebCenter suite

Oracle has released what it has described as a significant update to its WebCenter 11g allowing its customers to build on their Oracle applications and allow more social networking.

According to Oracle, the updated suite will help its customers tightly integrate their enterprise applications with other websites, make it easier to create mashups and build on social and collaboration services. Typical services include voice and web conferencing and instant messaging. In addition, the new version of the software offers an iPhone application that provides access to content within Oracle WebCenter spaces.

The company is also supporting the Content Management Interoperability Standard (CMIS) that allows organisations to make use of content from multiple repositories and across multiple systems.
According to an Oracle blog ” the new release of WebCenter delivers a modern user experience platform for the enterprise that brings people, processes, and information together to change the way users work individually or with others,” wrote Vince Casarez, VP of development at Oracle. He said that the new software would allow greater personalisation of websites to improve the user experience. “By leveraging the new open architecture, any information about the user can be used to drive the personalization experience. By creating scenarios that leverage these user attributes from a unified user profile, the entire look and feel, branding, services available, along with processes and information can be targeted to adapt to any user,” he continued.
