LaCie intros Big Disk Network and d2 Network storage devices

LaCie has introduced two new storage servers intended for small workgroups.

The new Big Disk Network and d2 Network are part of LaCie's line of NAS (Network Attached Storage) solutions.

The d2 Network supports up to 1.5TB capacity, while the Big Disk Network combines two drives in a RAID 0 setting, for up to 4TBs of storage.

The NAS devices offers users the ability to store, share, and back up files from any Mac of PC system, on a wired or wireless network and now integrates an internal BitTorrent client. Both come bundled with Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac users, and supports most of the network protocols for Mac and Windows users, including SMB and AFP, as well as Active Directory support.

Network administrators can choose from various security levels for user profiles, groups, and public or guest access says LaCie, and are designed for workgroup environments for up to 50 users, 15 at any one time.

The Big Disk and d2 Network drives share LaCie's distinctive styling, being designed by renowned designer Neil Poulton. The unique heat sink design offers natural heat dissipation by providing 60 per cent more surface area promises LaCie.

The Big Disk Network and d2 Network will be available through the LaCie online store and selected retail partners. Suggested retail prices start at £138 for the d2 Network and £260 for the Big Disk Network. Prices exclude VAT.
