30 universities in the UAE adopt Amricon’s SMARTDocument Attestation tool

Amricon, a smart technology solutions provider in the UAE, today announced 30 universities and educational institutions have adopted the SMART Document Attestation Solution that protects certificates against fraud.

Amricon’s achievement comes within two years of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) embracing the smart chip solution that uses a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) label to protect certificates from malpractices, in addition to facilitating and speeding up the ratification process.

The RFID label is placed on the university certificates at the time of its issue to students. The information stored in the labels can be read by the attestation department at MOHESR, enabling the verification of certificates using the SMART Document Reader without communicating with the issuing university. A greater number of certificates are attested in less time using this technology as data is captured directly from the certificate into the MOHESR systems without the need of manual input.

Moussa Al’Amiri, CEO of Amricon, said: “The SMART solution is an important innovation and underlines our commitment to keep pace with progressive technological developments. This breakthrough has eliminated the risk of certificate forgery and accelerated procedures. Our SMART solution was adopted by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in its attempt to automate processes and reduce paper-based transactions.”

Dr. Wael Ibrahim Aloenker, director of Emirates College of Technology in Abu Dhabi, said: “The RFID label, which is placed on the university certificates, contains all the information required by the ministry for attestation and cuts down the large number of documents previously needed as well as the prolonged communication chain. The Emirates College of Technology is among the first universities to implement this system.”

Dr. Mohamed Gedi, dean of admissions at Ajman University of Science and Technology, said: “It is imperative that the SMART chip solution is circulated among other institutions such as ministries, government institutions and large companies to ensure the authenticity of the certificates and speed up transactions.”

Nivine Al Rawi, director of registration at the Abu Dhabi University, said: “Ratifying certificates has become much easier and faster with the SMART Document Attestation Solution. Additionally, the certificates are proactively secured against potential forgery using advanced means, which would otherwise prove difficult to trace.”

The universities and educational institutions that have adopted the SMART Document Attestation Solution include the University of Dubai, Al Ghurair University, American University of Sharjah, the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies, Fujairah College, Emirates College of Technology, Ajman University of Science and Technology campuses in Ajman and Fujairah, Gulf Medical University, Al Ain University of Science and Technology, College of Islamic and Arabic Studies, Skyline University College, Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, Emirates Aviation College, Khalifa University campuses in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, American University in Dubai, Petroleum Institute, American University in the Emirates, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Canadian University of Dubai, University of Strathclyde Business School, Al Khwarizmi College, ALHOSN University, Abu Dhabi University, University of Sharjah, European International College, as well as the Omani Cultural Attaché in Abu Dhabi.
