Huawei completes simultaneous mobile and wifi service

Huawei has announced the completion of the first simultaneous mobile and wifi service test from inside the mLab-Huawei mobile broadband (MBB) innovation laboratory.

The test marks a significant step forward in the development of convergent solutions for mobile and wifi networks, with such solutions considerably improving the experience of end-users when switching between mobile and wifi network, Hauwei said.

Huawei claims the solution allows operators to confidently deploy wifi as a means of tackling the challenge of high data traffic. The mobile network assists in identifying and selecting the best wifi signal, allowing subscribers to connect to wifi without having to input their user name and password.

As mobile networks become increasingly overloaded with demand, subscribers can become dissatisfied with the service they receive. To solve this, mobile and wifi networks are simultaneously set up to provide high-quality data services and increasingly available throughput for the end user. Huawei’s convergent mobile/wifi solution will aim to deliver a better quality service to end-users and satisfy operator requirements.

In order to help users further understand the benefits of the simultaneous service, Huawei is conducting a study to analyse tiered data service distribution according to data service type and user experience to ensure service continuity for mobile networks and wifi.

Huawei first launched its convergent solution for mobile and wifi networks in 2011 and it has now been integrated into Huawei’s AtomCell solution, the company’s comprehensive small cell solution.
