Infor eyes TDCI acquisition

Infor on Tuesday announced plans to acquire product configuration firm TDCI, which the New York-based vendor has been working with for a number of years.

TDCI specialises in product configuration and guided selling solutions for manufacturers and distributors of customisable products and services. Its BuyDesign applications help companies improve direct and channel sales performance, as well as accelerating time-to-market.

The suite includes a product configurator, a sales portal, a so-called Flex Suite for generating 2D drawings and 3D models, a consumer design tool and a virtual storefront for e-commerce firms.

Infor made the announcement on the second day of its Inforum customer conference in Orlando, Florida.

“From an Infor perspective, it became critical that we embed a really strong product configuration tool into our ERP,” said Duncan Angove, President, Infor, when he made the announcement during his second keynote of the conference.

“We went out there to the market, and we found a product that Oracle was using, and Microsoft was using it. Naturally, we decided to buy it [TDCI].”

TDCI products are already integrated with a number of Infor’s ERP applications, including Infor LN, SyteLine and XA.

“There’s a natural fit between TDCI and Infor. We’ve been doing business together for over 10 years, and we’ve had a strategic relationship for five years,” said Bob Irwin, President, TDCI, following an introduction from Angove.

“We’re integrated into many of Infor’s ERP systems, and we jointly have over 250 customers worldwide.”

While the deal has not been finalised, a following statement said, the two firms have entered into a non-binding letter of intent. The acquisition will go through subject to the completion of due diligence, a share purchase agreement and customary closing conditions. If all goes well, Infor said it expected the acquisition to be completed in 30 days.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
