Musk flaunts plan to fly passengers from Dubai to London in 29 minutes

Musk said, “If you build a ship that is capable of going to Mars, what if you take that spaceship and flew it from one place on Earth to another?”

Elon Musk has revealed plans to enable passengers living in Dubai to fly to London via rocket in just 29 minutes.

Flying at a top speed of 27,000km/h, most long-distance trips would take around 30 minutes, said Musk, who is the chief executive officer of SpaceX – an American aerospace manufacturer and space transport services company.

The journey between London and Dubai would be cut down to 29 minutes, Bangkok to Dubai would take just 27 minutes, and Sydney to Dubai in 40 minutes. Musk also claims that the rocket could conduct a journey “anywhere on Earth in under an hour.”

The inventor made the announcement on Friday after attending the 68th International Astronautical Congress in Australia, where he unveiled his ambitious plans to send cargo ships to Mars in five years.

“If you build a ship that is capable of going to Mars, what if you take that spaceship and flew it from one place on Earth to another? So, we did that,” Musk told the conference, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

He later added in a post on Instagram that the service would cost the same as an economy seat on a traditional airline.

While it’s not yet known exactly when we’ll be able to jet to London over our lunch hour on his super-rocket, nicknamed BFR, Musk said construction of the rocket should begin within the next year – with the first launch planned for 2022.
