Nexans highlights latest LAN offerings

As part of its participation at this year’s GITEX, Nexans is promoting its data centre innovations and exhibiting its latest cabling solutions.nexans

According to Oena-Wim Stallinga, Marketing Director, Nexans, the company’s GITEX display is focused on spreading market awareness about the company’s capabilities. “Cabling is a very crucial element for today’s IT infrastructures and we offer wide-array of products and solutions in this space,” he said.

Stallinga also highlighted that the data centre segment is an important market for the company as the demand for bandwidth and high-density solutions continues to grow. “We are showcasing the features of our LANmark-7A for 25G and LANmark-8 for 40G, LANmark ENSPACE for scalable fibre solutions, LANActive FTTO and our copper and fire LAN Cabling solutions. We believe that the Category 8 solution will see a high demand from the data centre market. However, we think that Cat 8 is still very new but the standardisation of this technology is already in its final stages, both in the cabling and usage perspective. We have seen a number of early adopters of Cat 8 and we believe that this will increase significantly in the next three to five years.”

Also on display will be the LANactive, a Fibre-to-the-Office (FttO) solution, which, according to the vendor, offers customers an alternative approach to office networking by using passive fibre cabling and components together with locally distributed active FTTO-switches to provide ethernet services via standard copper based RJ45 technology to the device.

Tarek Helmy, regional director Gulf and Middle East, South and East Africa, Nexans, said, “GITEX has established its name as one of the most prominent ICT events in the region. Subsequently, more and more IT players from various countries in the Middle East are coming to the show, and the event is a great platform to showcase our commitment to the market. Our participation this year is more focused on our end-customers. We know that they are very keen on finding out about the latest cabling technologies to enhance their data centres and we are to inform them about how we can support them in that space. While we are seeing some early adopters of the Cat 8 for 40GB a number of organisations are still leaning towards 25GB and Nexan’s Cat 7A solution ca address that.”
