In an effort to improve its environmental, social and governance (ESG) activities, SK Telecom has set up a new integrated data platform linking with internal systems to automatically collect related data to improve efficiency.
In a statement, SKT explained by integrating data from its subsidiaries, the platform will serve as a central hub for consolidating ESG activities currently scattered across the group.
The Korean operator noted the reporting system meets global disclosure standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative, while the management system can proactively respond to domestic disclosure obligations under the Korea Sustainability Standards Board.
ESG promotion office director Eom Jong-hwan stated it plans to enhance the ESG management system by increasing the reliability and usability of data.
Using AI technology, including chatbots, SKT added the platform provides real-time responses to inquiries related to ESG indicators and facilitates more systematic use of data.
In 2021, SKT formed the ESG Korea Alliance with local and overseas organisations.
