OpenAI recently revealed plans to expand its European headquarters in the city of Dublin. The company plans to add 250 jobs over the next two years as it scales to meet rising demand for its AI services across the region.
The company leased an 88,000 sq ft office at the Tropical Fruit Warehouse in Dublin’s docklands, where it will relocate its European headquarters later in 2026. The ChatGPT-maker currently employs more than 100 people in the city, where it established its European headquarters in 2023.
The new positions will span engineering, sales, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, legal, corporate secretarial and workplace teams. Alongside the new roles, OpenAI also intends to expand its ‘OpenAI for Ireland’ programme, which supports young developers, start-ups and SMEs with AI skills and training.
OpenAI noted ChatGPT now has more than 1 million users in Ireland, with local businesses deploying it across software development, product creation and customer service.
Associate general counsel and head of OpenAI Ireland Emma Redmond said: “We continue to invest and grow in Ireland as we meet increasing demand across the region,” adding the expanded headquarters reflects “an important milestone in OpenAI’s long-term commitment to Ireland and Europe”.
Ireland also hosts the European headquarters of technology giants including Meta, Apple and Google.
