Mahindra Satyam inaugurates second delivery centre for aerospace and defence

Mahindra Satyam, engineering and IT services provider, recently announced the setting up of an exclusive delivery centre for aerospace and defence in Toulouse, France. This is a part of the company’s larger strategy of expanding the European footprint with a focus to strengthen relationships with regional aerospace and defence businesses. The centre is Mahindra Satyam’s second such investment after setting up its first dedicated Aerospace centre in Hamburg, Germany in 2008.

The new centre is expected to ramp-up operations and create opportunities for local talent in engineering, IT and communications domains.

Mahindra Satyam is a certified E2S supplier to EADS, and has been involved in strategic engagements with Airbus since 2004. It has established strong engineering, IT and manufacturing engagements with EADS companies across France, Germany, UK, India and China. This centre further reinforces the company’s commitment to this relationship and will positively impact the operating efficiency, risk mitigation and program management, representatives said.

Commenting about this initiative during the inaugural ceremony, CP Gurnani, CEO, Mahindra Satyam, said “We are excited to have reached another milestone in Europe. France is an important market for us and we are committed to investing on multiple fronts and enhancing the value delivered to our customers. The large talent pool coupled with excellent infrastructure in the region offers an environment conducive to driving business growth and creating a more seamless customer experience.”

Aerospace and Defence is a key growth sector for Mahindra Satyam and we expect to invest in both organic and inorganic growth. This centre is part of the company’s strategy to offer a ‘Global Delivery Platform’ to partners that reduces risk, creates a seamless organisation and allows the company to tap into skills and expertise that may not be available in India, thus allowing Mahindra Satyam to create value added services and solutions.

“The establishment of a delivery centre in Toulouse will help expanding Mahindra Satyam’s operations in France, generating jobs and making use of local talent in the areas of aerospace engineering and information technology”, said Rakesh Sood, Indian Ambassador in France.

The Toulouse centre will ramp-up to house up to 80 associates towards the end of this year from the local market and academia, the company said. This centre at Toulouse will offer services based on engineering around electrics, digital mock-up, aero structures. It will also function as an ICT front office for developing the services around technologies like SAP, PLM and Application Management services
