Fujitsu Technology Solutions has provided more than ten thousand notebooks to Egypt’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) through what is the largest procurement tender to be floated by a government body in Egypt. The MCIT presented the notebooks to the Egyptian Ministry of Education (MoE) as part of its joint Egyptian Education Initiative project.
Under a special scholarship programme, the MoE distributed the notebooks among outstanding achievers from more than six thousand students and two thousand teachers across Egypt. The move is part of the MCIT’s efforts to promote the use of technology among students and bridge the digital divide.
“As the MCIT continues its initiatives to further the use of technology in education, we are hoping this measure will encourage and stimulate student-based learning and early adoption of technology,” said Raafat Hindy, Director, Telecom Infrastructure Project at MCIT. “Education is critical for driving our economy and affects progress in other industry sectors as well. We are working closely with the Ministry of Education and are planning for the best utilization of technology in education through a number of projects. This scholarship is the latest among our efforts that we hope to continue each year. We partnered with Fujitsu Technology Solutions to support our initiatives owing to their technological expertise and continued commitment to promoting the use of technology in education. ”
