Huawei unveils Enterprise Business unit

The launch comes on the back of the vendor’s inaugural Enterprise Solutions road show that kicked off in the UAE and will also see Huawei tour the KSA and Pakistan as part of its Enterprise Business brand awareness campaigns.

In addition, this announcement is seen by industry experts as Huawei’s next step in diversifying its business to become a strong player in the IT sector as convergence between IT and telecommunications continues to become more pronounced.

According to the company, the launch of Huawei’s Enterprise Business unit also paves the way for it to launch its formal channel partner programme which will debut in the Middle East in February 2011.

Huawei states that unlike its telecommunications business where the company has engaged directly with the telecoms service providers, the Enterprise Business will go to market through an indirect two-tier channel business model.

In fact, the company is already seeking to recruit partners that are focused on systems integration or resellers that are transitioning from pure product selling to solution providing.

Currently, INTC is a distribution partner in the UAE and Huawei Enterprise Business states that it will sign distribution partners in Oman and the KSA.

Dong Wu, GM at Huawei Enterprise Middle East, says the company is delighted at the prospect of entering the enterprise arena with an end-to-end solutions offering.

Wu says although this is the first time that Huawei opens its IT enterprise solutions to the market, the company has internally been using its own IT infrastructure. “We have successful global case studies and projects with key organisations and government customers in the Middle East region. We are dedicated to providing enterprises with the same level of customised end-to-end solutions which we have delivered to the world’s leading telecom providers,” he says.

Wu points out that the entry into the enterprise IT space is in no way an indication the company was moving away from its core telecommunications forte. “We would like to replicate the success that the telecoms business has enjoyed in the region with the new Enterprise Business,” he says. “We are upbeat about the Middle East market and we believe we have the value proposition for the channel and enterprise customers.”

Wu explains that as a technology-driven vendor, Huawei has the right level of innovation and expertise to offer enterprise organisations in the region a high level of ROI from their technology investments.

As part of the Huawei Enterprise Solutions Road Show initiative, the road show truck is touring the Middle East from January to October. The tailor made tours will also showcase Huawei Enterprise’s latest technologies and solutions for Telepresence system, eCity, mobile office and data centre.

Huawei Enterprise Business will also focus on delivering end-to-end ICT solutions to the energy and power sector, transportation (aviation and rail), oil and gas, and “smart” cities.

Chinese telecommunications solutions vendor Huawei has unveiled its long awaited Enterprise Business unit in the Middle East, a move the company says will enable it to provide end-to-end ICT enterprise based solutions to the region?s vertical sectors.
