Juniper unveils 100 GbE interface

Driven by rapidly increasing network traffic—with video, advanced wireless services and emerging trends such as cloud computing as key drivers—core networks in the Middle East will soon require a new generation of scale, and 100 GE interfaces will provide an order of magnitude increase over the majority of interfaces available today.

As the first company to introduce 100 GE interfaces on a core router, Juniper Networks is ensuring its T1600 will provide long-term investment protection and the scalability and flexibility needed to fuel revenue from high-capacity services such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) and video. With a significant increase in per-link capacity, Juniper’s 100 GE interface card will enable service providers and data centers in the region to reduce the number of interfaces required in their networks, yielding significant gains in simplified topologies and enhanced operational efficiencies—helping to lower total cost of ownership.

“Many service providers and their data centers in the Middle East are growing at a rapid pace in order to meet customer demand for higher bandwidth and richer services, they are continuously working to broaden their offerings through higher broadband speeds to wire-line and wireless subscribers, ” said Ravi Mali, director of Service Provider Business, Juniper Networks MEA. “The 100 GB interface will provide operators and their data centers room to grow their business while the long-term investment helps to support increased profitability.”
