NETGEAR commits to eco-friendliness

NETGEAR is now driving the message of it being an eco-friendly manufacturer to the market and is also expecting its partners to take the message of its green friendly solutions into the market

The global volume of E-waste will reach 73 million metric tons by 2015, according to the ‘Electronics Recycling and E-waste Issues’ report, although it is expected to decline from that point onwards in the coming years as an effect of recycling initiatives and practices levels in the rate of the production of electronic goods. While electronic wastes continue to grow in the next six years, NETGEAR has committed to use eco-friendly components for its products as part of its commitment to countering the ill effects of E-waste dumping. The company also announced that it would be taking significant steps to protect the health and safety of its employees, customers, and the environment.

In response to the rising clamour for environmental responsibility across the IT sector, NETGEAR claims that it conducts its operations in a responsible manner, and produces high quality networking and storage products that are environmentally sound. It says it offers products that promote energy conservation, including ‘green switches’ such as unmanaged desktop gigabit switches, unmanaged rack mount gigabit switches, and smart gigabit switches. It is also an ‘Energy Star Partner’, working hand in hand with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to offer consumers energy-efficient choices that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company has also developed an aggressive plan to integrate its energy-saving initiatives to its broad portfolio of products available around the world.
