Sony unveils Xperia SP, Xperia L smartphones

Sony recently announced that two new Xperia smartphones will join its 2013 spring line-up – the Xperia SP and the Xperia L.

The SP offers 4G LTE performance, and a sharp, HD screen, while the L features what Sony calls “class-leading” camera technology with HDR (high dynamic range).

Both phones feature NFC connectivity for One-touch function, Battery Stamina mode for extended battery life, and Sony’s media apps for photos, music, movies and games.

The headlines of the Xperia SP include a 4.6-inchHD Reality Display, the latest BRAVIA Engine 2 and a co-moulded aluminium frame for a sleek and solid look. The phone weighs 155 grams, will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and features a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm MSM8960Pro dual-core processor. The camera is an 8-megapixel unit equipped with Exmor RS for mobile. The SP is available in white, red or black.

The smaller Xperia L sports a 4.3-inch display and also features an 8-megapixel camera. Like its sibling, it will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, though its processor is less powerful, being a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8230 dual-core processor. The L will also be available in white, red and black.
