Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has unveiled a fully autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) medical fitness centre in the region.

SALEM Innovation Centre is the first of its kind to utilise AI and Internet of Things (IoT) in providing medical fitness and health occupation screening services. It was exhibited as part of DHA’s participation in the UAE Innovation Month 2018.

Maisa Al Bustani, director of Medical Fitness Services Department, DHA said, “The new centre aims to provide medical fitness and occupational screening services using AI without any human interference. Providing a one-stop destination for all medical fitness tests required for completing their employment visa.”

Using the latest AI technology, customers are identified through their facial and Iris print, after which tests are conducted using a specialised robot. Once all the tests are completed, the system automatically sends the results to the concerned parties in a secure way.

The centre also uses a smart scale machine that can take vital measurements of customers such as BMI, weight and height, automatically rather than manually. The results are then sent to the SALEM system electronically.

Customers can pay through smart channels such as Apple pay, Samsung pay, mPay And ePay to name a few, according to DHA.

Al Bustani said the service is paperless and requires no data entry, removing all scope for any errors.

Dr. Fadi Hatamleh, CEO, Consol Gulf, which is the DHA’s strategic technology partner in the centre, said, “AI and IoT solutions provided by ConSol Gulf is key to the strategic partnership with DHA. This partnership paves the way to the adoption of AI and IoT in every aspect of the medical industry, reducing costs and improving services.”
