Anthropic AI looks to expand presence in Europe

Anthropic AI has recently unveiled plans to open new offices in Paris and Munich as part of a larger plan to expand its presence in Europe. The move follows recent openings in Tokyo, Seoul and Bengaluru. The new sites will add to existing European offices in London, Dublin and Zurich.

Over the past year, Claude chatbot developer Anthropic has tripled its EMEA workforce and plans to continue its hiring spree across the new offices.

Within the EMEA, Anthropic’s run-rate revenue is up more than nine times while large business accounts over $100,000 increased more than ten times year-on-year. The company’s roster of European customers includes L’Oreal, BMW and SAP.

In September, Anthropic locked up $13 billion in funding for a valuation of $183 billion. Google parent Alphabet and Amazon are among its investors.

Business Insider reported last week that Google is in early discussions for another funding round which would bring Anthropic’s valuation to more than $350 billion.

Anthropic launched AI assistant Claude in 2023 to compete with OpenAI’s popular ChatGPT product after being founded two years prior by former OpenAI executives.
