In order to make use of Verizon Business’ AI Connect portfolio Amazon Web Services (AWS) recently struck a deal. With the operator’s technology they aim to build high-capacity, low-latency fibre routes to connect multiple regions on a long-haul fibre path.
The deal is positioned as a major step towards redefining how data moves between a cloud and the edge to accelerate AI innovation at scale, according to Verizon Business.
Verizon Business stated it also reflects an industry-wide shift toward edge-native, high-capacity networks for real-time performance while emphasising the need for specialised infrastructure for the next wave of AI.
Verizon’s AI Connect offering blends the operator’s fibre infrastructure, which includes its long-haul, metro fibre, local fibre, and optical networks, with its power, space and cooling capabilities.
It will provide AWS with resilient network paths to improve AI workload performance and reliability underpinned by Verizon’s network infrastructure.
Prasad Kalyanaraman, VP of AWS Infrastructure Services, stated the partnership with Verizon Business will “ensure customers across every industry can build and deliver compelling, secure, and reliable AI applications at scale”.
