Odido, a Dutch telecoms operator, recently revealed a cyberattack compromised personal data linked to more than 6 million customer accounts.
This incident marks one of the largest ever data breaches in the history of the country’s telecoms market.
Odido, the rebranded successor to T-Mobile Netherlands, first detected signs of a breach on the 7th of February 2026 and launched an investigation with internal and external cybersecurity specialists. After confirming the attack, the operator moved to contain the threat, noting “the unauthorised access to the system was terminated as soon as possible”.
Stolen data included customer names, telephone numbers, email addresses, bank account numbers, birth dates and passport numbers. The breach was traced to a customer contact system rather than core network infrastructure.
While sensitive personal information was accessed, the operator emphasised critical service and usage data were not involved. It said “no passwords, call information, or billing information involved”, adding services “have not been affected” and customers can continue using their phone, internet and TV services safely.
Customer notification is underway, although Odido warned it could take up to 48 hours to contact all affected individuals due to the scale of the breach. The incident has also been reported to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
In a statement, the operator said it “deeply regrets this situation and is fully committed to limiting the impact of this incident and providing customers with all the necessary support”.
Odido serves approximately 8 million customers across the Netherlands and competes with national players including KPN and VodafoneZiggo.
