Proofpoint launches Digital Communications Governance Solution

Harry Labana, Senior Vice President and General Manager, DCG Business Unit at Proofpoint.

Proofpoint, Inc., a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, recently announced the launch of its next-generation digital communications governance (DCG) offering, delivering real-time search, AI-driven supervision and surveillance, and state-of-the-art archiving and compliance capabilities.

Deployed by six of the top 10 financial services firms in the U.S., according to Fortune 100 rankings, the offering, now available on public cloud, is designed to simplify one of the most complex challenges faced by organisations: the need to govern and manage a rapidly expanding array of digital communication channels.

With messaging apps, video calls, social media, and collaboration platforms now deeply embedded in business operations, companies are under intense pressure to maintain compliance and control across disparate data sources. At the same time, they must uphold internal governance standards around employee conduct and the handling of sensitive information.

In line with regional regulations and compliance frameworks such as the UAE’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and KSA’s NDMO guidelines, the urgency of this challenge is only intensifying. Gartner predicts that “by 2028, 80% of digital communications governance and archiving customers will consolidate the supervision of text- and audio/video-based content to a common solution, which is a major increase from fewer than 20% in 2024,” highlighting the mounting demand for a comprehensive, integrated approach to communications governance.

Proofpoint’s AI-powered capabilities empower organisations to natively capture, reconcile, and manage contextualized communications records directly in a modern archive, enabling them to make better, informed compliance decisions, manage risk, and improve litigation readiness.

“As regulatory scrutiny intensifies and digital communication channels multiply, the need for innovative, scalable solutions that enable compliance and streamline governance across all forms of digital interaction has never been more critical”, noted Harry Labana, Senior Vice President and General Manager, DCG Business Unit at Proofpoint. “By using advanced AI, we can cut through the noise, reduce supervision overhead, and simplify discovery—helping compliance and legal teams focus on what truly matters. We are committed to furthering our unified platform approach that provides customers a smarter, more efficient way to govern communications in the face of digital sprawl and evolving regulatory pressure”.

Key capabilities for Proofpoint’s digital communications governance solution include:

  • Next-Gen archiving, built for performance and compliance: Proofpoint Archive, now available on Amazon Web Services (AWS), delivers industry-leading, advanced real-time search capabilities backed by financial SLAs—including true wildcard search, complex proximity search and emoji search—as well as a robust litigation hold, and unmatched compliance features such as content reconciliation and PCI DSS attestation. Our archive search has been shown to deliver results in less than three seconds on average, based on 2024 statistics. The platform enables a more streamlined deployment in region, where the business case supports, with availability in the U.S., and deployments in Canada, Europe and the United Arab Emirates coming this quarter.
  • Transformed supervision and surveillance for a new era of regulatory pressure: Proofpoint Supervision and Proofpoint Automate are evolving with plans for advanced ML, LLM-based surveillance, and AI-driven translation and risk summarisation—helping financial institutions meet strict SEC and FINRA mandates through high efficacy detection across all content sources, while dramatically reducing reviewer workload, by significantly lowering false positives in an explainable way. New Supervision customers will be able to utilise machine learning models “out of the box” without having to license additional technology. In addition, Proofpoint is paving the way for GenAI and Agentic AI technologies to deliver differentiated Supervision capabilities that enhance oversight and compliance while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Expanded native capture across 80+ digital channels: Proofpoint Capture provides a modern, native capture for email, mobile, voice, video, social, and collaboration platforms—enabling comprehensive compliance and governance across all content sources, with flexible archive options and high-efficacy, enterprise-grade connectors for rapid integration and expanded data control. Proofpoint Patrol extends social capture, providing award-winning monitoring and remediation of compliance risks.
  • Proactive audit readiness with content reconciliation: Proofpoint Track enhances audit response with industry-leading, highly scalable, end-to-end upstream and downstream reconciliation, helping ensure content across all sources is successfully delivered to the archive. Recognised by Gartner, our reconciliation capabilities reduce the risk of missing or improperly stored data, supporting stronger compliance and peace of mind.

Availability

Proofpoint Archive on AWS is generally available. Migrations for existing customers will begin in Q3 and will be performed free of charge through 2026. The new capabilities for Proofpoint Supervision and Proofpoint Automate are expected to be globally available through a phased rollout starting Q2 2025.
