Dubai Customs’ “smart innovations” have played a huge part in helping to increase the number of customs transactions in Port Rashid and across the emirate’s borders, the organisation has said.
Port Rashid has dealt with 606,922 transactions in the first nine months of 2017, while electronic clearance had the lion’s share of them transactions with 438,220 transactions (72%), and insurance registration with 98,236 transactions (16%).
The new smart customs cards for vehicles facilitated the service and helped raise the transactions in this service to 39,848 (7%).

Dubai Customs’ Smart Refund initiative, powered by artificial intelligence, automates the document verification process using a virtual robot without human intervention.
The initiative eliminates human error in data entry and reduces the time needed to refund customs insurance from 7-9 minutes to just one minute. Costs have also been reduced by 80%, which has led to AED 23.5m in savings, and a 99% client satisfaction rate.
