Anthropic’s latest Claude offering looks to target SMBs

Anthropic recently added a toggle instal inside of Claude Cowork in an attempt to move its AI capabilities down from the enterprise level to small- and-medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

The AI player bills its Claude for Small Businesses suite of services as way to put AI inside the software small business owners are already using, including QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

It is available with 15 ready-to-run agentic workflows and 15 skills built around the tasks business owners said slow them down most.

The task-automation platform allows businesses to browse the web, manage files and execute multi-step workflows.

By using the suite of services, paid users can access automated services including bookkeeping functions, business insights, document signing and generative tools for ad campaigns.

Anthropic highlighted small businesses account for 44% of US GDP and employ close to half the private sector workforce, but noted their adoption of AI lags larger enterprises.

“AI is the first technology that can finally close that gap, which is why we’re launching Claude for Small Business, alongside training and partnerships to make sure AI shows up for the entrepreneurs and communities who need it most”, stated Daniela Amodei, co-founder and president of Anthropic.

“Tools and training are rarely tailored to the ways small businesses operate and, as a result, their use often stops at the chat window”, the ChatGPT rival stated.

Anthropic plans to promote the new features with a coast-to-coast U.S. tour, starting in Chicago, Illinois and hitting 10 cities in total.

At each stop, the company plans to offer free AI training workshops which will be available to 100 local small business leaders at each location.
