Ericsson to modernise Viva Dominicana network

Ericsson has been selected by VIVA Dominicana to deploy Ericsson Revenue Management products, as part of a five-year, full end-to-end network modernisation project with the operator. The solution includes Ericsson Charging System 16, Ericsson Multi Mediation, and all systems integration services and consultant services.

The solution is part of Ericsson’s Digital Support Systems (DSS) portfolio and supports VIVA’s 4G 4X4 MIMO network modernization. LTE 4×4 MIMO enables enhanced mobile internet user experience and increases operator spectral efficiency by delivering up to twice the downlink data rate without the need for additional spectrum.

The modernisation of VIVA’s IT environment supports monetisation of voice and data services, including different options for the configuration of new plans, as well as the path to operator’s short-, medium- and long-term business evolution.

Luis Bodega, CEO, VIVA Dominicana says: “Modernised IT solutions allow us to have a more agile operation, which is needed as we launch new 3G and LTE services. Ericsson’s complete end-to-end solution showed us that they were the best partner for this transformation.”

Elie Hanna, President Ericsson Mexico, Central America and Caribbean, says: “Our pre-integrated solution will help Viva Dominicana expand its data offerings, quickly respond to consumer demands for service bundles by decreasing time to market.”

Ericsson Charging System enables real-time convergent charging, policy control and faster service creation. It lets the operator control credit while letting users control their costs through flexible packaging, bonuses and discounts. Ericsson is a leader in real-time charging, with more than 200 implementations managing more than 1.6 billion end users worldwide.
