According to a representative for Anthropic, Google recently committed $10 billion to the AI company at a $350 billion valuation with up to $30 billion more contingent on performance targets.
The representative told Mobile World Live the investment builds upon its existing partnership, which includes a recent expansion of Anthropic’s use of Google’s TPU chips and cloud services.
The arrangement with Google and Broadcom includes 5-gigawatts of capacity coming online starting in 2027 along with the opportunity for multiple additional gigawatts going forward to support the continued growth of Anthropic’s Claude models.
The latest Google investment came a few days after Amazon pledged $5 billion to Anthropic, also at the $350 billion valuation, with an option for $20 billion more. In February, it raised $30 billion from a group of backers.
Google has been a strategic partner and minority investor in Anthropic for several years.
Several news sites report Anthropic is planning to go public over the coming months
Bloomberg reported the fundraising surge is largely driven by Claude Code, an AI agent which speeds the process of writing computer software.
Despite the partnership, the two companies remain direct rivals in the race to build and deploy AI models and infrastructure.
