Smart Dubai Office, DHA discuss Smart City initiatives

The Smart Dubai City Office (SDO) has recently organised an introductory meeting in Dubai Health Authority (DHA), as part of its unifying efforts with the founding strategic partners; with the aim of making a success of SDO’s initiative for firmly establishing Dubai as the Smartest City on earth by 2017 through refined living standards for residents and visitors alike in the adoption of Smart technology.

These achievements and efforts are in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which is moving at a high pace for Dubai to occupy its prestigious position worldwide and consequently achieve prosperity and happiness for its inhabitants.

H.E. Dr. Aisha BintButti Bin Bishr, Director General of SDO, and the accompanying delegation showcased the smart transformation roadmap to DHA, who are a founding strategic partner. In addition, the delegation outlined SDO’s objectives and strategies for forging the necessary partnerships with the stakeholders inside and outside the UAE towards achieving the best results in smart transformation fields.

H.E. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, Chairman and Director General of DHA, as well as assistant directors general and a number of departmental directors and heads of sections, welcomed SDO’s vision, which builds momentum and calls for combining efforts to provide such shared smart services that live up to standards that the prudent leadership aspires for making Dubai the happiest and smartest city on earth.

H.E. Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami said that Dubai Smart City office represents the right direction to which Dubai is moving and reflects the aspirations of the Emirate and its vision to become the smartest city in the world in all aspects of living, as well the innovative ways of achieving this vision.

Underlining the effective role played by the DHA for Dubai to transform into a smart city, Dr. Bin Bishr said, “Our real wealth in Dubai is our people. Undoubtedly, the health of the society, which is the basis of a smart city, is the most important issue that we should work on and place on top of our priorities. We are in DHA today to work together to innovate pioneering solutions for the process of happiness by employing the technology and the latest smart innovations in the area of health for serving Dubai’s smart society, which will be able to seamlessly and efficiently pursue its goal of reaching the happiest and smartest city worldwide. Through co-operation, integration and mobilized energies, we also seek to provide shared smart services that cover both the public and private sectors and aim to roll out the smart transformation all over Dubai.”

H.E. Younis Al Nasser, CEO of Dubai Data Establishment, outlined SDO’s structure, which is a sophisticated and advanced step in the process of transformation into the smart city, and under which come Smart Dubai Government Establishment, which is the technology arm of SDO, and Dubai Data Establishment, which is aimed at allowing data to be disseminated and exchanged between the public and private sectors.  Al Nasser said, “DHA is part of the smart transformation initiative and our ambition is to transform Dubai into the happiest city in the world by employing an innovative technology that provides smart services for the happiness of individuals.”

Al Nasser showcased the main pillars of the initiative, these being efficiency, safety, seamlessness and impact, before giving a summary of the open data and shared data, these being the most comprehensive and ambitious in the world as the fruits of these data will be reaped by all including decision-makers, business owners and Dubai residents and visitors. Dubai Data Establishment approves, supervises and implement policies, authorises the classification of data, identifies reference records, and follows up on the commitments of data providers to the adoption and implementation of the agreed-upon policies, he said, noting that Dubai Data is closely associated with the Smart Dubai platform.

Meanwhile, H.E Wesam Al Abbas Lootah, CEO of Smart Dubai Government (SDG), the technology arm of SDO, stated that SDG seeks to achieve sustainable happiness for Dubai residents through the provision of world-class smart services and infrastructures and that SDG’s scope of work covers the connected services, enablement services, shared services and infrastructure.

Talking about Smart Dubai Platform, which is the new digital backbone powering Dubai’s Smart City transformation, Lootah demonstrated the latest updates that would allow the participating entities to place their respective smart services on the platform and to update and develop them as well, making the platform open for all individuals and entities.
