Georgetown University has entered into a multi-year upgrade deal for its campus connectivity. Cisco will deploy Wi-Fi 7 in a host of settings to match the growing use of digital learning and other initiatives.
Cisco stated it is to provide Georgetown University with Wi-Fi 7 technology spanning multiple spectrum bands including 6GHz. It explained the establishment is seeking better data rates as more people use devices on site, along with adapting to the shifting learning environment and research matters.
Georgetown University CIO Doug Little said the facility requires solid communications capabilities to meet its “academic and research ambitions”.
The university is in line for Cisco enterprise switching and other products to deliver automation and advanced analytics about network performance and usage patterns.
Cisco stated the unification of access layer management would streamline connectivity across all university buildings. It is also providing a security set-up comprising multi-factor authentication, end-to-end visibility and advanced analytics.
The company described the deployment as one of the biggest involving Wi-Fi 7 in higher education and noted it builds on another campus contract for arena connectivity it recently secured with Monumental Sports and Entertainment.
