Trend Micro announces latest enterprise mobile security

As personal and professional lives become more intertwined, employees are using their own consumer-grade tablets, smartphones and PCs for work – regardless of company policies, said Trend Micro, a global cloud security provider and according to the company, the latest enterprise security solution from Trend Micro will help organisations embrace consumerisation and unlock full business potential.

The lack of a planned approach to consumerisation creates security risk, financial exposure and a management nightmare for IT. According to the company, Trend Micro Mobile Security 7 for enterprises/businesses extends protection beyond traditional PCs to secure data on a wide range of consumer-grade mobile devices, such as Android devices, iPhones and iPads. With threat prevention, data protection, and mobile device management under a single point of control, Trend Micro Mobile Security 7 enables organisations to protect data, limit data loss incidents and reduce the operational costs of managing employee-owned mobile devices, the company added.

Trend Micro Mobile Security 7 key features include centralised, Single Console Management that features a proven, reliable, and scalable central management framework and allows for managing from a single console the security and configuration of PCs and mobile devices; Mobile Device Management that provides centralised enrollment, provisioning, and de-provisioning for network and application access, an critical visibility into devices and status, enabling IT administrators to take proactive control and reduce the cost of support and Data Protection, a feature that allows remote lock and wipe of corporate data if a device is lost or stolen, permits feature-lock to disable cameras, Bluetooth sets, and SD card readers, and provides device inventory and location tracking.

In addition to which, Mobile Device Security provides malware protection leveraging cloud-based intelligence from the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network infrastructure, firewall/IDS, call and message filtering and logging, and enforces passwords when powering-on the device, the company said. Trend Micro also pointed out that Broad Platform Support supplies seamless cross-platform security, regardless of device form factor for Android, iOS, Windows, and Symbian.

Trend Micro Mobile Security 7 is available as a standalone solution for businesses, as plug-in for Trend Micro Enterprise Security for Endpoints Light, or as part of the security suites including Trend Micro Enterprise Security for Endpoints Advanced, Trend Micro Enterprise Security for Endpoints & Mail Servers, Trend Micro Enterprise Security Suite – all of which include Trend Micro OfficeScan as a key component.
