Apple has revealed plans to hold its newest product launch on 9 September. The event is expected to include the iPhone 17 lineup and a new slim version of its iconic device.
CEO Tim Cook stated in a post on 26th August on X: “Get ready for an awe dropping #AppleEvent.” The launch will take place at Apple headquarters in the US state of California and will be streamed starting at 1 p.m. ET.
Bloomberg News reported Apple’s iPhone 17 family of smartphones is expected to include redesigned iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models which will feature new backs with larger camera areas.
It stated the standard iPhone 17 will appear similar to the current iPhone 16 but with a larger display and camera improvements.
Bloomberg News reported the thinner iPhone 17 could be Apple’s first entirely new device in years. It is expected to be about 2 millimeters slimmer than current models but will have a shorter battery life and just one camera.
The news agency said an updated model of the Vision Pro headset with a faster processer is in the works as well as an iPod Pro featuring Apple’s new M5 chip and a second front-facing camera.
Consumers and analysts will be keen to hear about any AI updates by the iPhone maker. Apple is languishing behind rivals in the development of generative AI models which can be used on its devices.
Cook stated in a staff call earlier in August it has to win in AI and noted a more personalised version of Siri features will be available next year.
