Gulf Software Distribution, the value-added distributor of IBM Software Solutions, has appointed Gareth Hansford as the new general manager across the Gulf region, effective from January 2018.
As GM, Hansford will be responsible for leading the overall, day-to-day operations of the company from GSD’s Dubai Internet City headquarters. He will be working closely with IBM and the many existing partners that GSD has in the region, while seeking new partners to exploit the IBM Software Solutions portfolio, said the firm.
Hansford said, “I am very excited to join the GSD team, they’ve had great success in building the business from scratch over the last three years and I look forward to taking GSD to the next phase of its development.”
Hansford brings over 30 years of IT experience and a proven track-record of leading and transforming channel business to capture new market opportunities and deliver growth and profit to partners, according to the distributor.
Hansford was previously vice president, Global Sales for Backup Exec and VP EMEA Channels for Veritas, prior to which he ran Azlan in the UK for Tech Data.
He has also held several key leadership roles over many years for IBM in channels, distribution, software sales and PCs with IBM and Lenovo. The company believes this experience will stand him in good stead to accelerate the growth of GSD and capitalise on the market opportunities for the benefit of its partners.
