Private sector firms to fuel Kuwait Vision 2035

The Kuwait Vision 2035 will fuel further private sector support for the the national economy and boost efforts in achieving sustainable development, according to the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD) Dr Khaled Al-Mahdi.Kuwait, Honeywell UOP, Kuwait Vision 2035

Dr. Al-Mahdi’s statement came during the sidelines of the Internet of Things (IoT) Conference and Expo 2017. “Government institutions and sectors are taking part in the implementation of 90 percent of development projects in Kuwait,” he added.

The Kuwait Vision 2035 crystalises the private efforts for backing the economy, and sets more effective policies for attracting foreign investments, he noted. It aims to reduce the official contribution in projects to 30-40 percent, Dr. Al-Mahdi noted.

Al-Mahdi noted that the major challenge facing them in the implementation of the nation’s development plans is mostly the integration of the latest technologies and altering culture with government offices.

Kuwait’s Vision 2035 is focused on transforming the country into a regional financial and cultural hub by 2035 through 164 strategic development programmes. Branded as “New Kuwait”, the initiative sets the nation’s long-term development priorities.

Meanwhile, Qusai Al-Shatti, Director General of the Central Agency for Information Technology stressed CAIT’s role in the implementation of the Kuwait Vision 2035. “This role focuses on various aspects, mainly promoting the government management (the e-services sector) and developing the infrastructure for further use of application solution while dealing with the public.”

The Internet of Things (IoT) Conference and Expo 2017 delved into the challenges and opportunities that come with the emerging new technology of IoT, which is projected to have substantial leading growth by the year 2020.

The technology is expected to play an integral part in a variety of sectors, such as healthcare, transportation, and services sector.
