Cyberoam new offering for small office security

Cyberoam has launched the CR15i, an all-inclusive security appliance that specifically caters to the business requirements of small offices. The vision behind this product was to achieve an easy-to-use, affordable UTM solution that leaves no gaps in fulfilling the security requirements of offices up to 25 users.

By tradition, most of these offices were dependent on desktop security products that are ineffective against blended threats, and can’t prevent the entry of viruses and malware at the Internet gateway, the point at which the Internet enters the network. CR15i is a highly effective, gateway security appliance that costs less than a low-end laptop. CR15i is also very easy to use, reflected by the fact that even non-technical people can manage it.

Comparing CR15i to desktop products, Abhilash Sonwane, VP – Product Management, Cyberoam, says “We understood from the small office customer experience, that despite their reliance on desktop security, because of open Internet gateways, they continue to suffer from malware in the network – a situation similar to keeping your valuables in the locker while leaving the main door open to intruders.” Adds Mr. Sonwane, “Everytime these small offices face network issues, they have to rely on some external partner to come and resolve their problem, leading to frustrations and delays, as they generally don’t have any inhouse IT person.”

By stopping viruses, malware and hackers at the Internet gateway itself, Cyberoam CR15i effectively keeps these networks secure with its comprehensive set of security features. In addition to firewall, gateway anti-virus and anti-spam, intrusion prevention and multiple link management, the appliance delivers secure remote access through VPN to traveling employees and remote offices.

CR15i can also be used by branch offices of large organizations for easy-to-manage remote office security that remains at par with that of the central office.

Says Harish Chib, VP-New Business Development, Cyberoam, “CR15i furnishes daily user identity-based management reports indicating spam, virus, intrusion and other threat activities, network usage trends and traffic patterns in the network with the user identity.” Adds Mr. Chib, “its bandwidth management feature prevents bandwidth choking by dedicating committed bandwidth to key users in the organization, and preventing heavy bandwidth applications through content filtering. Thus, it saves on monthly Internet bills for organizations and gives better ROI.”

Cyberoam is the only identity-based security appliance that enables organizations to see who is doing what in the network, allowing better control on Internet surfing and ensuring higher productivity. Certified by ICSA, CheckMark and VPNC, Cyberoam has its presence in 55 countries and is the recipient of 5 star rating from SC Magazine four times in a row for its award-winning range of Identity-based UTM appliances.
